AAT Biogas together with its long-standing partner Biogenic ApS Successfully Delivers and Installs Advanced Emergency Biogas Flare (FLR 1500) in Norway

Hustadvika Municipality
- AAT Biogas, a leading global provider of innovative biogas technology, together with it’s Denmark partner Biogenic ApS, has successfully completed the shipment, installation, and commissioning of a high-performance Emergency Biogas Flare at a biogas plant in Norway.

The newly installed emergency flare is designed to ensure maximum operational safety for the Hustadvika biogas plant, allowing for the controlled and safe combustion of excess biogas during maintenance or emergency grid shutdowns. To guarantee uninterrupted performance during freezing Norwegian winters, the unit is equipped with advanced Gasflare trace heating and insulation. This specialized system prevents the freezing of critical components, including the motor, solenoid valves, and the condensate pipe, ensuring 100% reliability year-round.
Technical Specifications:

FLR 1500Built with premium-grade materials and cutting-edge engineering, the system features the following technical parameters:

  • Type: FLR 1500
  • Medium: Biogas
  • Throughput Flow Rate: 1,500 m³/h
  • Combustion Output: 9,750 kW
  • Overall Height: 7.9 m
  • Gas Pressure (Min / Max): 25 – 150 mbar
  • Material (Gas-Exposed Parts): 1.440x (SS316 Stainless Steel) for superior corrosion resistance.
  • Material (Combustion Chamber): 1.4301 (SS304 Stainless Steel)
  • Insulation: High-grade ceramic fiber lining in the combustion chamber, durable up to 1,400 °C

Engineered for Durability and Safety

Biogas plants require components that can withstand both internal corrosive gases and external weather elements. By utilizing high-alloy SS316 stainless steel for all parts exposed to gas, AAT ensures maximum longevity and resistance to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) degradation. Furthermore, the ceramic fiber insulation rated up to 1,400 °C ensures optimal thermal containment and high-efficiency combustion.
With this successful installation in Norway,
AAT Biogas continues to expand its footprint in Scandinavia, providing renewable energy projects with the robust infrastructure needed for a green transition.
