Low pressure gas storage
The gas holder shell consists of a cylindrical tank with a conical roof constructed of glass lined steel plates. To store biogas at (near) constant pressure the membrane is pressurized by a horizontal steel plate (loaded with concrete blocks). Stabilized by a guide pillar the steel plate travels between gas holder floor and roof. Access to the upper part of the gas holder (aerated head space) is provided via outside ladder, outside platform and manhole. Inside the tank a gangway provides access to the entire tank circumference. The tank head is aerated by a vent including a roof hood. From the outside pedestal the tank roof can be reached by a further ladder. Gas holder control and monitoring is by level sensor and indicator. Positive pressure protection is provided by a water seal.
