Work on the plant started back in 2008. Currently the plant is in the commissioning phase, which will be completed by the end of September 2009. On completion, the plant is expected to handle 27,400 tonnes of deposits per annum (e.g. liquid manure from cows and pigs, silage from grass, corn and apple processing) and to generate about 625 kW/h of electricity. In addition, the waste heat from the combined heat and power (CHP) station will be used at the operator’s existing pig rearing facility.
