The currently largest biogas plant has been built near Murkska Sobota in the eastern part of Slovenia. The plant processes the liquid manure produced by the piggery’s 65,000 pigs as well as the slaughter waste from the associated slaughterhouse. The two CHP stations started operation in the autumn of 2006 and together produce about 1,400 kW of green electricity per hour. The plant was officially inaugurated by representatives of the Slovenian government on 18 July.
